Know exactly what to do today, every day until the 11+.
"What should we revise tonight?" is the question that stalls most 11+ preparation. Exam Path answers it for you. It takes the whole syllabus, puts it in the right order, and turns it into one short checklist a day from now until exam day. Earlier topics keep coming back so they aren't forgotten. It's the week-by-week structure families usually pay a tutor for, built into SharpY Mind.
How it works, in three steps
Open SharpY Mind and tap Set up a plan. We prefill mid-September of Year 6 as an estimate; enter your school's real date if you know it. That's the only setup.
Every school day there's a short checklist: one new topic, a quick look back at earlier ones, words, times tables, and reading or word problems. One button starts each item, and Next β takes you to the next.
A progress bar shows topics learnt out of the whole plan, and whether you're on track. Miss a day and nothing is skipped: the plan keeps your place.

A day on the plan
Each school day has one new topic, plus practice that keeps everything else fresh. The list is sized for the child's year:
| Year | Today's list | About |
|---|---|---|
| Year 3 | New topic, plus Words of the day or a times-tables race (alternating) | 15 min |
| Year 4 | New topic, words, times tables; comprehension on Tue/Thu, word problems on Wed; a short mixed review on Mon/Fri; Fix-It Five when mistakes are due | 25β30 min |
| Year 5 | New topic, words, times tables; every day either comprehension (Mon/Wed/Fri) or word problems (Tue/Thu); a mixed review on Mon/Fri; Fix-It Five when due | 30β38 min |
Timings are estimates at first. Once your child has answered 20 timed questions, the card shows "about N min at your pace", based on how quickly they actually work.
Saturday and Sunday are rest days. Nothing is due, and the streak is kept. Children who fancy it can still do a β Bonus round.
Why it works
For parents: getting the most from Exam Path
- Set it up together. Sit down for two minutes and press Set up a plan side by side. Children stick with a plan they helped start. If you know your school's test date, enter it; otherwise keep our estimate.
- Pick one fixed time. The same slot every school day (after a snack, before screens) turns it into a habit rather than a negotiation. Year 3 needs about 15 minutes; Year 5 about half an hour.
- You don't need to know the content. Your job is the routine, not the teaching. The plan decides what comes next, and every wrong answer comes with an explanation.
- Check one line. "Today's plan: 2 of 4 done" on the Home screen tells you everything you need day to day. The card tidies itself away once the day is complete.
- Behind? Don't panic. If the card says "2 weeks behind, nothing is skipped", simply carry on. Everything is still there, in order. Don't try to double up on new topics to catch up.
- Can't practise tomorrow? After finishing today's list, use β Get ahead to do tomorrow's topic now. Tomorrow then shows it as done and the streak is kept. One day ahead is the limit, on purpose.
- Keen child? Try the Challenge. Once the day is complete, π₯ Challenge repeats today's topic one level harder. It's great for confident children who want more.
- Look deeper once a week. The Parent Report shows weakest topics, curriculum coverage and the Exam Readiness estimate. Ten minutes on a Sunday is plenty.
- New school year? Each September the plan may ask "Is your child now in Year 5?". Say yes when they've moved up; that unlocks the next year's topics.
- Praise effort, not scores. "You finished your list again!" builds the habit far better than "Why did you get that wrong?". Mistakes are how the plan finds what to bring back.
For children: your daily mission
πΊοΈ How to play your Exam Path
- Open SharpY Mind and find Your path to exam day at the top.
- Press the big button. That's it: the app knows what's next.
- "Remember it!" first. A few quick questions on things you learnt before. Try them without help: that's how your brain proves it remembers.
- Learn today's topic. Got one wrong? Read the explanation. That's the moment you actually learn it.
- Press Next β after each part until everything has a β . Then you're done for the day!
- Weekends are rest days. Rest helps your brain lock in what you learnt. If you fancy it, grab a β Bonus round.
- Want more? When your list is done, try π₯ Challenge: the same topic, one level harder.
Top tips: little and often beats a long cram Β· mistakes are how you learn, not a bad thing Β· watch your progress bar grow a little every day π±
Questions parents ask
Which year groups is it for?
Years 3, 4 and 5. The 11+ is sat at the start of Year 6, so the plan always finishes before then. Starting earlier simply means a gentler pace.
We only have a few months. Is it still worth it?
Yes. A shorter plan puts the most important topics first and tells you honestly how many lower-priority topics it had to leave out. Those stay available in free practice.
What happens if we miss a few days?
Nothing is skipped. The plan keeps your place and picks up where you left off, and the card tells you if you're behind the calendar.
Does it replace a tutor?
It gives you what a tutor's plan gives: the right order, a daily routine, and regular revision of earlier topics, with an explanation for every wrong answer. It doesn't mark extended writing or talk through problems one-to-one, so some families use both.
Can my child still practise other topics?
Of course. Every topic is always one tap away underneath the plan. Extra practice never counts against the plan.
