👀 Child wellbeing
We care about your child — not just their score.
After 20 minutes of focused practice, SharpY Mind offers a gentle 20-20-20 eye-care break. It's a nudge, never a wall — the child always decides whether to take it or carry on.

Great focus! Time for a quick break 👀
Try the 20-20-20 rule: look 20 feet away for 20 seconds.
Not nowTake a break
01 — The nudge
A quiet card, not a wall
Appears only when a round, mock test or Rock Slam naturally ends — never mid-question. Everything behind it stays visible and usable.

02 — On their terms
A suggestion, not a lock
"Take a break" folds into a small pill that follows across screens, with a "Start now" button to resume the instant a child is ready — no waiting it out.

Stars, streaks and badges are never withheld or obscured for this. The celebration comes first — the nudge is a footnote underneath it.
Why we designed it this way
Timing
Waits for a real pause. The threshold can be reached mid-question, but nothing shows until the round, mock section or Rock Slam round finishes on its own.
Consent
"Not now" is a real, equal option. No dark patterns, no disabled skip button, no shrinking countdown pushing toward "yes." Declining is exactly as easy as accepting.
Autonomy
A break that's taken can be ended early. "Start now" means the 5-minute timer is a default, not a sentence — the child decides when they're ready to go again.
Respect
Sound only if they've already chosen sound. The chime reuses the same mute setting as every other in-app sound.
Your privacy — the honest technical answer
We know "eye-care" can sound like it implies watching your child. It doesn't. Here's exactly what this feature does and doesn't do:
🔒
No camera. No eye-tracking. No biometrics. The reminder is a simple on-device timer — it only knows whether this browser tab is actively receiving answers. It never accesses a camera or microphone, never looks at where a child's eyes actually are, and sends nothing about this timer to us or anyone else. See our full Privacy Policy for everything else SharpY Mind does and doesn't collect.
- What's measured: elapsed time only — a plain in-memory counter (milliseconds since the last answer). No sensors of any kind are used or requested.
- Idle handling: backgrounding the tab or pausing for more than 30 seconds freezes the counter; it resumes exactly where it left off.
- What's stored: nothing. The counter resets on every break, page reload or progress reset, and is never saved to this device or sent to a server.
- Scope: the same rule applies identically in standard practice, Mock Test and Rock Slam — no mode is treated as "more important" than a child's eyes.
See it for yourself
Open the app and practise for a bit — the nudge appears right where you'd expect it, and nowhere you wouldn't.
