Why We Never Ask for Your Child's Name
Sign up for most 11+ apps and the first screen builds a profile of your child: full name, date of birth, school, year group, sometimes a photo. From then on the child's real name sits in the interface and their record sits on a company's servers. SharpY Mind was built the other way round. The core app asks for none of that — and for a reason.

Using SharpY Mind without an account (the default)
Open the app and start. Practice progress — answers, streaks, the parent progress report — is stored locally in your browser, on the device you're using. It is not sent to us, because there is no account for it to be sent to. Clear your browser's site data and it is gone; there is nothing on our side to delete.
This is why a child can pick up a shared family laptop and practise in two minutes, and why there is no "profile" of your child in existence anywhere.
Using a Family Account (and the full version of the app)
The no-account app is complete for one child on one device. A Family Account is what you add when you want more than that, and it is still built on a single piece of parent data: an email address and a password. Here is everything it unlocks:
- Cloud sync across every device. Practice on the family laptop after school, carry on from a phone in the car, pick it up on a tablet at the weekend — the same progress, streak and history follow the child.
- Separate profiles for each sibling. Two or more children under one login, each with their own year band, target exam board, progress and weak-area tracking — nothing bleeds between them.
- A 14-day unlimited-practice trial. The free app is capped at 40 questions a day; a Family Account lifts that cap for 14 days so a child can sit a full mock, review it, and keep going in one sitting.
- The full parent progress report. Topic-by-topic accuracy, mock-test trend lines and the areas to focus next — the same report the no-account app shows, now saved and building over time instead of living only on one device.
What it still never asks for: your child's real full name, their date of birth, their school or their year group. Child profiles use a closed nickname picker — there is no field to type a full legal name into — and the year band is a band you choose, not a birth date. Each family's data is isolated at the database level, so one parent's login can never see another family's children. You can delete any child's profile yourself from the parent dashboard, close the whole account whenever you want, and any Family Account left inactive for 24 months is deleted automatically.
No ads, no profiling
There are no adverts in SharpY Mind and no third-party advertising trackers. There is no analytics SDK building a behavioural profile of your child to sell or share. The app makes only the outside requests it needs to load its fonts and run; those are itemised in the privacy policy.
Why this matters for the 11+ specifically
11+ preparation runs for two years or more, across primary-age children, and the data involved — how a specific named child is scoring, in which subjects, aiming at which named schools — is unusually sensitive. A breach or a resale of that dataset is not abstract. The safest version of that data is the version that was never collected. Where a feature genuinely needs an account, we ask a parent for the minimum to make it work, and nothing else.
Frequently asked questions
Does SharpY Mind need my child's name?
No. The core app runs with no account at all. It never asks for your child's name, date of birth, school or year group. Practice progress is stored in your browser on the device you use, not on our servers. The optional Family Account asks a parent for an email and password only, so progress can sync across devices — a child profile can be a nickname or initial.
Does my child's practice data leave the device?
Not when you use SharpY Mind without an account. Everything your child does — answers, scores, streaks, the progress report — is saved locally in the browser and stays on that device. If you choose to create a Family Account, progress is synced to allow multiple devices and sibling profiles, and you can delete it at any time.
Does SharpY Mind show ads or use trackers?
No. There are no adverts, no third-party advertising trackers, and no analytics SDKs that profile your child. The app makes only the external requests it needs to load fonts and function, which are listed in the privacy policy.
How do I delete my child's data?
Without an account, clearing the site data in your browser removes everything — there is nothing held on our side to erase. With a Family Account, you can delete the account and its data from the account settings, and any Family Account inactive for 24 months is deleted automatically.
